It's not just Volvo dealers. My sister in law took her Toyota in for a $16 oil change. She was told she needed a new exhaust "system", tie rods, shocks, and a few other things. Estimate = $1200. The car was 2 years old.
She called me all concerned and bothered. I told her to forget those attractive offers and keep going to her indy. Two years later, no problems have come up.
