Are Volvo's lemons? V70-XC70 1998

Hi all.

Here's my question.

We own a 98 V70R AWD which we bought used a year and a half ago. Fortunately we bought the extended warranty.

We put on approx 20000Km/year mostly highway.

We've got maybe six months of warranty left. Since we've owned it they have replaced drive shaft, turbo seal, front end, brakes(caliper siezed) and some other odds and ends. Now the air pump is on it's way out.

It's a beautiful car to drive but... I hop into my Ford pickup, start it and off I go. I hop into the Volvo, start it and wonder if there will be a problem. Going to the dealer is an aweful experience, I'm always afraid of what they might find and how much it's going to cost me.

The other day the sales lady was trying to talk me into an S60. Good luck.

So my question is, do I keep it and repair everything myself hoping for the best that nothing too serious will happen? Or do I get rid of it and buy a cheaper newer non Volvo?

Side question, what sort of repair costs are people running into annually with their Volvo's?

TIA
