I did my own version of the modification, utilizing the Wetterauer chipset as a format base. I recommend a dual cat-back exhaust in addition to the mod, however. Check out the IPD website for reasons.

Performance has improved significantly, particularly while passing, but an added benefit has been an improvement in gas mileage from around 24 up to 29. Don't know for sure why, but the exhaust mod might be contributory. I had a speed shop put on an aftermarked dual exhaust, and added a 3-inch id resonator just behind the cat to keep in-car resonance down.

I performed my mod 5 years ago, while my V70 AWD was still under warranty at 15,000 miles on the odometer. I've got over 90,000 miles on the car now, with no oil consumption or any other indication of wear, but note that I always use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and change it at 5000 miles.
