ABS units Difference with TRACS / Part # ?? 850

Ok, just to clear things up:

The ABS modulators from 93-95 do not appear to be compatible with the ECUs from 96-98 models. The computer in 96-98 appears to hold the electromagnetic side of the valves, whereas the computer dosn't on the previous versions. Of course, the coils heat up and assist with the early funerals for our ABS computers.

Also important to note that in 1996, Volvo got rid of the diagnostic connector interface, in leu of the entirely OBD-II interface. OBD-II can tell you everything the computers know about your mechanical bits such as the engine, transmission, and brakes... and the less mechanical bits such as the air conditioner, security system, cruise control, and last but not least, your seats.

Although I won't say I can't be wrong, I would assume that there was a major inter-ECU protocal change from 95 to 96. If it's not the part that came on your car, odds are it's not going to do what you want it to.
