Sorry, I'm far from the east coast. I like Volvo turbo cars as I like having cars that can beat out others from a stop and have plenty of passing power too. There is nothing wrong with any Volvo turbo car IF well maintained. Like anything, lack of maintenance such as few oil changes are the #1 problem with older turbo cars.
The reason I'm no fan of 240s is that they're a very old body style, basically unchanged since '75, no turbo version since '85, boring interior and (to me), just not fun to drive.
As for leather, IMHO Volvo leather is very problematic. Unless pampered (and no one does that), the leather cracks badly making the car look older than it should. It's also hotter in summer, colder in winter. On the other hand, Volvo fabric seats last forever, it's great stuff. I'd avoid lighter colors that show stains.
I suggest a '93-'95 940/945 turbo with fabric seats if possible. Be sure that it's been well maintained. You won't be sorry.
When my now 19 yr old 745T wears out, maybe another 10 yrs?, I'm buying a car like the 945T above or something else besides a Volvo. Newer Volvos (especially '99 on up) do NOT impress me nor would I ever advise one to anyone I know.
