Then the PNP failed on my 960 ( Park-Neutral Position Switch ) it cost a lot to replace, and alost all of it was paid for under extended warranty.
They had to take the exhaust system out to get at the place on the side of the transmission where the PNP is fastened. Whe I told a Tech I was in the habit of swtiching into neutral when I came to a stoplight, he said there's no reason too..slippage occurs via the fluid in the torque converter, and besides, every time I switch into neutral or Park it exercises the switch. I recall it too caused the transmission to go into limp-home mode....real slow to accelerate, but OK once rolling.
