The reason the air pump fails is because of water accumulation which in time leads to rust and seizing of the pump. BUT,
the problem is not a bad pump, but a busted SAS valve in the open position.
Air pump is used only during cold startups to reduce emmissions. When the SAS valve fails in the open position, water vapor from combustion condenses and drains toward the water pump, because is lower than the SAS valve(poor engineering design).
So replacing the SAS valve and making sure vac to the valve is present is KEY
Also drill a 1/8" hole at the bottom of the air pump to prevent further water accumulation and pump failure.
