I am the new owner of a 2001 S-40. It is under the extended Volvo warranty, so I fear doing ANYTHING that would void this warranty.
In my history with cars (every Volvo model except the 544), I have been crazy/nutty about the oil. Currently in my other cars I use Mobil One. The S-40 manual seems to say that synthetics are NOT to be used. Any thoughts? If this is so, what is your recommended oil for this engine (the car will be living in Virginia with my son). If I am "allowed" to use syntethics, what weight Mobil One is recommended? Any help would be appreciated.
