Normal for an ETM failure? Are all the parts the same?

Sounds like the dreaded ETM failure, and no the newer modules are not any better. They'll fail again in less than 50K miles.

If the car is still under warranty, make sure they replace it now and not later, and don't buy the throttle body cleaning bit. This usually buys you a few months until the car is out of warranty, then they'll sell you the new ETM for $1100.
