Days ago there was a recall for S60, V70, and XC70 models built in 2000 and 2001. See http://www.flexiweb.co.nz/volvoforum/viewtopic.php?t=179 and the link from that forum post. Fans are being replaced for free worldwide as a precausion against a small possibility of sparks and engine overheating.

Have fun...

(I've got a '71 144 and '88 240, sold the '84 760, and hope to get a 850 wagon or V70 soon to replace the 240)
