Back from the shop and not happy:( 850

Well me and my sick 850 are back from the shop. The mechanic SAID he looked the ABS pump over, and after telling us he has never seen one leak in his career, said this one is leaking. He qouted 1500.00 for the pump new. We have a friend with an auto salvage company, who has one there for 300.00, but this mechanic would not do the work with a used part. He said he would make some calls to find us a mechanic willing to replace the part used, but he won't touch it.

We then stop at our local Napa for the giant sized bottle of Dot4, as it seems we will be using a lot of it for the foreseeable future. My friend at Napa came out and looked at the ABS. He said first off, he doubts this car was even taken apart, second, he thinks the fitting looks bad..so he said it is worth it to first try replacing the fittings and tightening everything up before even thinking of replacing the pump. So now we are on the hunt for another reliable Volvo mechanic in South Jersey..anyone within the tri-state area willing to take a peak? I would love this to just be a loose fitting.

As to this mechanic not willing to replace the pump with a used componant..though I see his logic from a liability stand point, I know this friend's salvage business is reputable..but just in case..is there a certified, reliable parts store most of you use that have a good deal on this? We are prepared to pay the 300...but there is no way we can sink 1500 into this new pump. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
