Don't be shy about asking for some maintenance records. Things to look for on this car are:
1. Engine seals leaking or records for replacement of seals.
2. Evaporator replacement and the condition of other A/C components.
3. Starter/Ignition switch replacement
4. Was maintenance done at Dealer?

If some of the above have been replaced and his maintenance has been regular and it is truly in excellent shape.... go steal it for $3K.
