I have likewise documented the oil change procedure on my web site, along with pictures and the procedure used both before the introduction of the filter element and afterwards. Although this is not definitive advice, I wonder if switching to full synthetic on a well used engine might cause some problems with leaks? Maybe you could switch to a synthetic/petroleum based blended oil. It's a 50-50 mix and about 1/2 the cost of full synthetic. Watch for any additional oil consumption or leaks. After a few oil changes, you could gradually wean your engine off the petroleum based (dinosaur) oil. Just my thoughts. Any other opinions?
