CV BOOT 850

I just installed a drivers side axle that I bought from http://www.raxles.com. The axle was $150.00 +shipping. I was so amazed with how easy it was to replace the axle. I followed the instruction on replacing the bearing hub (shown on Bay13). Basically, I loosened the axle nut with the car on the ground. Then I jacked up the car, and removed the wheel and axle nut. I did not remove the brake caliper. I removed the two bolts that hold the lower A shaped metal part (I have no idea what it is called) and removed this A shaped part. I used the flat end of the Volvo lug nut tool to tap between the inner joint and the transmission to remove the axle.

This is the first drive axle that I have replaced, and I expected the job would take me several house. Actually, I spent more time dragging out my tools and jack and the time to clean up and put things away, than it took to have the axle completely removed and the new one installed. Probably 30 minutes at most.

good luck
