I would suspect ignition switch, PNP switch, primary wiring and relays (main, fuel pump) before I suspected the cam sensor. The cam sensor is a quite rugged part and should keep working unless its wiring has been damaged (provided you don't snap your timing belt).
The camsensor would be easy to inspect by removing the 2 Torx cover screws. It consists only of a fixed coil and rotating armature. Unlike on some cars there is no special process to realigning it when you put it back on.
Does the engine ever quit once started?
