I think that the old Miatas with the pop-up lights were better in that regard (lights mounted further back in the chassis). The fiberglass parts (I've heard) were always weak in the Miatas. Try not to crash, I guess, and I suppose you could always bodge the fiberglass part together if you do. Won't look pretty, but who cares?


Besides, I guess owning a "fun" car has its price; a price that some are willing to pay.
