Long-term, vexing puzzle: Intermittent no-crank

My bet would be on the mechanical portion of the ignition switch...that's what it was on mine, and AFAIK, a very common 850 problem. However, I have a 740 that had an intermittent no crank that was finally just fixed by replacing the battery.
