Yeah, it was built on a Mitsubishi platform and was built on the same assembly line with something called the Mitsubishi Carisma.

The engine is the 4-cylinder variant of the Volvo "white motor" family, it's a 16 valve DOHC interference motor and bears absolutely no relation to the old iron-block 4-bangers of legend.
