I bought my Volvo new and it still uses no oil between change, the clutch is still...(knock-on-wood)...the original one and the manual transmision still shifts like new.
The drivetrain has been great!
But almost all of the AC system has been replaced as have large portions of the electrical sytem. If an Evil Previous Owner had not been so meticulous as I about oil changes and gently letting the clutch out, I might be looking for rags to stuff into the gas tank and a match myself.
If you wanna drive a car like a Volvo I think the only way to go is to lease or buy a new one. If used, I'd look for a Toyota or Honda ... at least that variable is then removed from the equation.
I had been looking for a late (2-airbag) 940T for my kid for several years, decent ones are nearly impossible to find.
