Strange knocking sound, left front V70-XC70 2002

Dirkster,

Mine turned out to be a broken top shock mount. It made a rattling noise going over bumps and in turns. Pop the hood; on the side where your noise is coming from see if you can turn the two-inch diameter rubber cap on the top of the shock by hand. If you can, I had mine replaced at an Indy shop for 125USD including labor. Good Luck!
