Same crap earlier today. So after long hot drive...pulled out blower motor for LAST time. With a little effort was able to remove plastic housing around motor body...and then could see brushes and commutator.
Brushes worn obviously after 11 yrs put still good. Cleaned commutator with a bit of WD-40 and q-tip...that's where brushes make sequential contact with termination of motor windings.
Mystery solved...3 or 4 commutator sections gone....so time for new motor.
Anyone know if motor fan, or mouse trap as I call it, can be removed from old motor shaft.
