Is there anyway to clearly differentiate an oil pan leak from a rear main seal leak? 200 1986

Go to a self-serve carwash, spray Simple Green down there and wash everything thoroughly. Let it dry, then dust talcum powder on the bellhousing area. This will help trace the leak. To further help, run the car at idle for some time to allow it to leak and not have the oil blown all over by the wind. That should pin it down. If you've ruled out a rear rear cam seal leak (and these can look like main seal once it drips down) then it's likely the main seal.
