Good points to be sure. I guess I don't consider the possibility of stripping threads or breaking studs because I've never had it happen in this procedure (until the next time I do it, probably). And I have removed the pulley this way on numerous occasions on both of the B21 engines I have owned/maintained. For me it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Plus, I'll bet you both a nickel that the v-belts need replacing and therefore an adjustment will probably be in order.
