Identifying your engine... 444-544

Look on the left side of the engine block, above the fuel pump. If you have a B20 the letters 'B20' will be cast into the block. The same thing goes for the B18.

I don't care for the Weber or Solex downdraft carburetors. The S.U. (Skinner Union, a British company) carburetors are extremely simple to repair and tune up once you understand how they work.

If you decide you want to try a set of S.U.s, let me know. If you'll e-mail me the engine size, I can tell you which S.U. carburetors you should get, along with the proper jets and jet needles. I also have virtually every book written on the S.U. and I'd be happy to e-mail you a copy of the pertinent pages.

Remember, if you go for the S.U.s, get the intake manifold and throttle linkage to go with it.

I also can walk you through the steps needed to make your own chrome air filter covers so you can ditch the expensive and hard to find stock air filters.

This is really a simple job, and if you look around you should be able to do the whole thing (minus the air filter covers) for about $50.00.
