My 1994 940 has a B230 with the LH2.4, but not all cars from 89-on did. There are many Rex-Regina system cars out there, and their fuel system could be tough to adapt to a LH chassis.. One quick underhood check is the coil: the LH cars have the usual cylindrical Bosch coil, the R-R engines have a somewhat cube-shaped unit. That said, the castings are the same, so you could fit any B230 with your LH2.4 system.
Junkyard engines are always a bit of a crap-shoot, but if you get one from a good yard with a guarantee, it improves your odds. Make sure you are able to install and test out the engine well within the yard's guarantee limit. That's a mistake I've made a number of times when things didn't happen as fast as they should have.
If you go the self-serve yard route, source the engine from a car with fairly serious body damage. That should mean it was running when it wrecked.
