I think a B230F is a B230F no matter where it comes from. You just can't use a rear-mounted distributor in a 240 because of clearance.

My preferred way to go would be to drop a used engine in. For me it was faster and more affordable. The best engines are the newer ones. You want a L block if you can find it ('93 and newer I think).
