544 Wyoming Road trip intro 444-544

Over the summer i undertook the project of installing a M41 tranny into my 544. Many people (including my parents were impressed i was able to pull it off, being that i was 17, (just turned 18 on the 16th) and many people my age dont have the "know how" to pull something like this off. Well i got my J-type installed and went on a 300 mile test run. After i got back i fabricated a trailer hitch and loaded up some climbing and camping gear and left Topeka, Kansas headed west with my girlfriend. We were on the road about 3 weeks putting a little over 4000 miles on my 544. My rear "beatle" bumper was a little rusty, so i sanded it down and painted it white. anyone who commented on the car or talked about it to us signed it. it was full before i got home. Heres a pic of the 544 and early 60's cargo trailer south of Jackson, Wyoming. Ill write a full article of my trip soon and will get a pic of the bumper.

Seeing the country in a vintage volvo is the way to go!!

Awesome, Awesome

Abram
