HI yall..
Earlier this year me and a very good friend left washington d.c. with the intent of driving all the way to the end of the world..ushuaia argentina..
this trip had been in back of my mind and sorta being planned for the past 4 yrs..
untill the moment came to buy a car to do it..long story short..
bought a 1979 Volvo 245dl with a B21f and manual M46.
THIS WAS the best choice we made..the car..AKA churrasco. was just amazing..
it whent thru some real amazing stuff.....ran out of pavement at night doing 70mph in costa rica..at night..hours and hours of washboard roads..
all in all with very good confort..and security..
well this is just a little bit of editing..
hope you all enjoy..
gosh i love these cars...miss the car terribly..had to leave him behind.
trip took 7 months...driving hundered of miles everyday...in parts of equador..75 octane only available..
this car is indestructible..starte in my hands with 210k i had NO reservations if the car could make it..the only things that whent wrong was a bad previouse repair of some wired coming off the dist..aside from that..just flat tires..busted rims...amazing

A quickie look at a Google map shows that being 6-7,000 miles. Is that right? Amazing. Thanks for the great video!

Interesting trip! Despite the hard parts and blown tires/rims, the Brick did well. Enjoy the memories for the rest of your life, you might even be able to laugh about the bad ones (ie. ignition harness).

That was a once in a lifetime trip, don't forget it!

      HI.
      thanks for the kind words..
Well the whole trip was closer to 22k miles..drove around alot.
The car...we had to just leave it in buenos aires..took some memories off..dash cluster..vin plate..steering wheel..then just left the keys in the car and left it.
WE all prety muched cried at the time..
I cannot say enough about this car..driving in it for that long it just started to feel like you driving in a tank. as in nothing bad can happen to you while inside it.
Oh even the bad memories are already funny.. as in getting stuck in sand in a beach in peru..completly desolate ( that´s in the video) just giving up on diggin the car out decided to camp and then in the middle of the night started to hear some very strange noises-barking...next morning we realized it was sea lions.. scary....
People whould come up..tap the car...and go....DUDE IS THIS THING BULLET PROOF?..
Well..Thank you all..yes the ignition switch was a mess..car broke down at a police check point...Im not getting spark..decided to check the switch but take a digital photo of it before i take it apart..well the pic did not work..
I then asked the question here about the wiring..and got a very quick reply...thanks again...

      Yes amazing trip...got another one planned..in 2yrs...

Give me a "holler" in two years... with a few months of warning! Sounds like too much fun and potential memories to pass up on!
