I just did a quick lube of the center support bearing last weekend on our 89 244.
Once I had the car on jackstands it was a simple exercise of removing the four bolts that hold the support piece to the body pan. Pull the donut away from around the bearing. Clean up the bearing surfaces and then use something like a dental pick to carefully pull the plastic cover back enough to get the straw of your favorite spray lube into position to give the interior of the bearing a few good shots. I used LPS3.
The bearing loosened up nicely. A couple of squirts of Armoral lubed the donut so as to slip right back into place.
