Intermittent hard starting and post-back 700 1990

Don't know if your year has a prepump or not but based on my own experience it would not prevent the engine from starting. May cause it to crank a few more times and have weaker acceleration but would still start. If you've never had the idle air valve out it may just need a good cleaning. Could be sticking closed when cold. Just take it out and spray the heck out of it with some carb or brake cleaner until it frees up.
