That really sounds like the crank position sensor. If the Ez-k ignition has no CPS signal the LH 2.4 unit will cut off the ground to the fuel pump relay so it seems like the relay is not working. The symptoms tend to be random because the vibration of the engine moves the deteriorating wires around. When my car would not start I used to give the sensor wire a jiggle and it would usually get it working again. I did eventually replace the CPS because it was messing up the timing so bad that it would backfire and stop the starter.
