ignition cables - Bosch or Bougicord? 200 1988

Many year ago I replaced my ignition wires with a set from the dealer. They are made by Bougicord.

For the last several years, after spending a gross amount of time finding it, I have traced a slight vibration I feel in the gas pedal - and see in lower gas mileage, to the metal snap connections to the spark plugs becoming loose. This can't be from too many spark plug checks since I have switched to gapless plugs. I have been squeezing the ring down to compensate but the vibration comes back and I find another plug wire loose.

Does anyone else find Bougicord cables to come loose and think the Bosch wires are any better?

I replace my spark plug wires and coil wire every 100K as preventive maintenance.

My last two sets were genuine Volvo and I haven't had ANY problems.

Currently, a set from Tasca Volvo runs $45.24. The latest set I bought from them 3-4 years ago is blue, and I haven't had ANY problems with them. If you do order from the dealer, don't forget to order a coil wire. I believe that it is a separate item, about $12 or so.

I didn't know about FCP Groton until I started reading the Brickboard a year ago. If you go with the brand name stuff from them, you usually can't go wrong and it will probably be the best price overall, unless it is genuine Volvo, and then I would order from Tasca Volvo.

I like Bougicord.
I get them from fcpgroton.com.

Anybody but Bosch 200 1988

My last set of Bosch wires lasted 8 months or 18K Miles. Ends were all corroded in spite of the recommended boot lube.

Go with the Bougicord.
