The Knock sounds like a little gremlin hitting the block w/ a wooden mallet
on every stroke of one of the pistons.
See goatman's comment about piston slap. You can go many miles with that slap never getting louder.
The day will come when you will want to replace the engine. Watch for red block engines to come up on craigslist or ebay near you (or ask on turbobricks.com). When you find a good deal, get the engine and prep it to go in. If you've got a set of tools about the only thing you may need to rent, buy, or borrow is an engine hoist. Get a couple of friends over to help on a warm Saturday. Until then, enjoy the $1100 ride. ;-)
