Are you planning on converting the front brakes to disks?

We recently converted my 57 444 to discs. We used the existing MC (after rebuilding it and removing this proportioning valve)

..and adding a Wilwood 10 psi residual pressure valve (p/n 260-1876) to keep brake fluid pressure on the rear drum brakes.

But, we have also purchased a smaller diameter bore (3/4") MC from Wilwood, p/n 260-3374. We have not installed this MC yet, but it will likely provide more stopping power, due to having a smaller bore.

Just some things to consider if you may be thinking of converting to discs.

Hello,

The covers for the 2 different styles of brake master for the 544, remote and non-remote resevoirs, are different sizes and do not interchange.

However, VP has a cover that allows the use of the remote resevoir with earlier style of master that has an integral resevoir.

I can't find the thread, but someone reported a good replacement as follows:
Summit racing. (805-688-2353) "Tilton kit" 7/8" Bore, with Remote Fill assy. I believe they had to slightly file one hole in the frame mounting bracket.
Also have a note on "Raybestos M/Cyl AIL1"
