5-speed is worth a lot. Most were automatics (why would someone buy a Volvo with an automatic? This is one of the oddities of American suburbia that confounds me.).

Think of the economics this way: if it is rust-free and in good mechanical shape, $3600 is buying a lot of car that will last for a long time. Offer a bit less and see what happens. What else can you buy for <$3600? If it were near me, I'd probably grab it in a minute (well, 5 minutes).
