With the dollar at an all-time low, $5000 has the buying power that $2500 had a decade ago.

As the other folks said, if the car is straight, and everything works, plus you have complete maintenance records, it is probably worth what the guy is asking.

For perspective, go look at used Hondas. A 10 year old Accord with 100K miles is worth 8-10 grand.
