Okay guys (Lucid, Goatman, etc.) I'm starting a new thread about my '84 diesel to gas conversion project saga 200

I'm with Dan. I think the numbers on the photo of the distributor are wrong. The plug wire closest to the thermostat housing is #1. See Bentley's diagram Fig. 7 under section 280-6, Ignition System. #2 is the wire closest to the battery on the distributor cap. 3 and 4 are at the back, near the FPR.

One more thing: I haven't seen one in years, but in my tuning days, we did occasionally run across a bad spark plug!
