confused about overdrive... 200

If there are 5 seperate, forward gears that you can shift the transmission into with the shift lever, it's a M47 transmission and there is no "Overdrive" unit on the car.
On the M-46 manual transmission, the Overdrive Unit is bolted on to the rear of a 4 speed transmission and provides a 5th or overdrive gear.
It is engaged by a pushbutton (or switch) that's located on the shifter knob.
