You have a failed timing belt.
That belt fails but still looks good. The failure is that the teeth on the belt where it wraps around the drive gear shear off - leaving a smooth surface.
The acid test is to see if it moves while cranking the engine. Easy way is to have a helper look through the oil filler hole at the camshaft while you turn the key to crank the engine. If it doesn't turn the belt has failed.
Why do they fail? Oil leaks through the engine front seals (there are 3) weaken the belt, OR a camshaft bearing siezes, OR...I forget the #3 reason.
Replacing the belt is a relatively easy DIY job.
Do that test and post back.
Good Luck,
Bob
