Hey Micheal,
I think its fine to grab an idle air valve from the pick n' pull. If they give you a good deal, grab more than one if you can. Its nice to have spares. You may want to clean the valve before putting it on the car. Some carburetor/throttle body cleaner on a cotton swab works well. (you'll use more than a few...) Check the vane for free movement, its spring loaded. Then sparingly lube it with some light oil afterwards. Keep the old one you have as a core, in case you get a rebuilt one.
