The Volvo A/C manual has an instruction for that adjustment screw. Nothing in the heater manual of course, but the AC manual warns about the valve not closing completely. To paraphrase, it says to check the flow through the valve by feeling the input hose. If not cold, adjust the screw 3/4 turn clockwise.
The adjustment screw transfers the power made by the wax motor to the valve adjuster. The wax motors tend to die over the years, I guess because their seals will leak. Same technology is in your coolant and airbox thermostats.
Rancos as nearby as Advance? Great news.
The word I've read on this board is late model 5-speeds are LH3.1 cars. It is good for fuel economy, maybe not so good for replacement parts availability, being rarer than LH2.4.
