The only other thing (but not directly related to the cluster) is the other end of the wire from the cluster to the alternator at the D+ terminal, where current from the BATT light and 3 others* allows the alternator to start producing voltage as it spins up.
Did you happen to notice if the warning lights worked on your last ride? Or did you just do what most do and turn the key quickly past ON to crank it up?
Is your battery charged now? Can you see the +12V at that 3-pin connector, on the Red-Black wire with the Key ON? If yes, then it should also be at the disconnected D+ wire at the alternator.
* Beside the Batt light, current from theses 3 lights also make up the alternator's "pre-excitation current":
