Do not use Radar Detectors - use a LIDAR jammer. 200

2 main consequences of using a RADAR Detector = First, no one in this century is still using X, Xb, K, Ka and LA bands (too costly to calibrate, very inaccurate) Second, the RD is destructive to the driver cuz you're left with two ultimate endings: if the officer sees/hears an RD it will thwart your inquires/requests for a Warning in lieu of a citation OR he will confiscate it and destroy it on scene. Either way you end up paying! Maybe TWICE...

Though the laws are particular with each state, the general concensus is that anything jamming a FCC licensed signal of the municipal/state governemnt level is an unauthorized transmission and deliberate interference punishible by multiple laws. That's well known with a RADAR interception, yet LIDAR is mandated under the FDA and CAN be jammed if you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH IT.
My father has been using that nifty Valentine ONE since early early 90's (my family has seen several versions) yet V1 was insufficient when Texas received a boost in funding to equip ALL State Troopers with a LIDAR Speed Confirmation Device. Subsequent V1 upgrades were rendered and we STILL got picked up (helps when your grand uncle is a Dallas Police officer and is willing to help test it all out). So my father investigated a LIDAR jammer...
To sumarize the info into tips; here's a list:
1) View the specs that the jammer can be effective to current SCD's used in your area.
2) Gain a cursory idea of how Infra-red works (focused/delta)
3) Know that these devices MUST be running at ALL times since the data processed takes only 2 secs or LESS after the emittance of a SCD's beam.
4) Most SCD's are aimed at chrome or white, supports positive reception.
5) Headlights and License Plates are primary targets.
6) Make sure the unit you obtain has 3 or more transmitters with atleast 6 diodes per sensor.
7) Mounting proximity is absolute KEY to a sure-fire effectiveness. With our cars having plastic headlight cases it's VERY easy to install a transmitter within the headlight. If you've removed the front license plate I highly suggest you put a transmitter above the rear plate.
8) Most LIDAR jammers come with an Activity Alert to signal you to TURN IT OFF!!! The moment an SCD emits, the alarm will sound, and you SHOULD TURN IT OFF. The cop KNOWS what he is aiming at even if you're the 5th car back from the lead and he can EASILY determine the jamming source. If he's a Dudley Doright he'll pull you over and search the vehicle from roof to floor. Why, you ask? If the jammer is legal why should he care? Should he locate the Jammer on your vehicle, he will will seize it for evidence and you will be charged with the Criminal Code charge of "obstructing a Peace Officer". This carries a much higher penalty in courts. So what happens when ya use the thing TURN IT OFF!!!

Or you could just drive the speed limit.
