wiring harness in a 940 v 240 for Art et al 200 1993

I've just purchased my first 940 after decades and dozens of 240s. (Clean, one owner 240s are getting very hard to find and this 940 was a deal) The 940 seems much more substantive electrically speaking and while there are more electrical options to go wrong, overall it seems more robust than a comparable year 240.

I'm deciding if to go all the way with this 940 or flip it and revert to the tried and true 240s.

You seem to have a long relationship with both, what's your opinion? More is better or KISS?

hello
i have a 94 945 turbo and a 95 944 turbo and spend much less time fixin stuff than any of the 6 or 7 240s we owned.
maybe because they are newer, i dont think you will be reverting.
good luck
Mike

I've really very little experience with the 940. Just had a few years maintaining the MIL's '92, which is still newer than any 240 I've worked on.

What I did notice, in what little I had to get into, was better wire, more reliable-looking connectors - better protection from the elements. Like they learned something. I didn't much care for the ashtray fuse box, which seemed to be the #1 electrical objective of the boneyard scavengers. Taillight connectors were starting to look almost Japanese in quality - and that, unfortunately, is a compliment. Truth is I don't know the state of the art, having been immersed in 240s for ten years now. Sure there's more to go wrong; power seats, power sunroof, lots of courtesy lighting, but it is all to be enjoyed.

The 940 just seems more "complex". The 740/940 really aren't any more complicated than the 240. They may even be *less* complicated.

The *only* drawback to 740/940's is that they're not as purty as the 240. :-)

A 940 will be easier to maintain than a 240; electrics are more rational, and suspension is easier to work on.
Don't get me started on fuses!
