I had the dreaded stuck cable, did the unintentional "Italian tune-up" on the drive home in rush hour traffic Friday and worried about our last car being out of commission for this coming week (it's a long, sad story of cars dying around here as of late).
After posting about my woes, i followed the advice of rstarkie and elevated the cable, dripping down droplets of Aero-Kroil every ten minutes for a couple of hours. At that point, I switched to Syn ATF put in a syringe that I bought at a cookshop. this i did for another two to three hours. At various times I grabbed the cable and pulled it out as far as it would go, then I pushed it back in. Mostly, it still felt stuck except after I began adding the ATF, and then it moved more freely. After most of the day having it elevated and pulling/pushing, it began to travel freely. I then reconnected it and made a few test drives for adjustment and now it is working (crosses fingers) wonderfully! thanks to rstarkie and others here for lending a kind ear.
