Just discovered I have no gas cap key for the 145 I bought recently. It's a Volvo locking cap. How can I open it?

BTW, these caps "just about" but don't completely fit a 1978 ford E-150 Econoline Wagon fuel pipe. I lost that cap the other day....

An old time locksmith should have the ability to make a key for you. I think "the ususal suspects", like Susquehanna spares, Veteranproduktor, etc. have appropriate key blanks.

They can be picked but they are a pretty sloppy lock so it isn't easy.
They have plates rather than cylindrical tumblers. You may have to pick both
sides.
A lower security "fix" once you get it open is to insert the key you want to use and then
file the plates flush with the outside of the lock cylinder.
When you take the key out some of the plates will engage.

i used a double sided Snapon tool box key . pushed and pulled and turned.
