Contact Cleaner 200

Most of the off the shelf contact cleaners found at hardware stores will do a good job. The best contact cleaner, however is DeOxit made by caig labs. You can it RadioShack but it is expensive and comes in a very small dispenser. If you have a Guitar Center near you they have the big cans at a great price.

I had problems with my ABS. Cleaning the connectors with a regular contact cleaner never helped much, but when I used DeOxit on the connectors the problem vanished.

Make sure you get the DeOxit Cleaner. They have other products which some confuse for the cleaner.

Dielectric grease should be applied after cleaning to protect against future oxidation.

Products like OxGard, which are conductive, should be used on grounds because they improve conductivity. If ones uses them on connectors, however, there is a risk of shorting things together.
