81 240 wagon, fixit or scrapit? 200 1981

First, How do you know that all of these things are bad? What are the symptoms? The reason that I'm asking is that if you're not able to do the work yourself then where are you getting your information about the condition of these items? Did you jack the car up and visually inspect all of these things yourself? I'm not trying to question your mechanical integrity but I've found alot of folks that come on here are repeating something that someone else told them who may or may not know what they're talking about. If you do decide to pursue repairing the car, I'd start by removing the driveshaft and checking the U-joints on the workbench. You can't accurately check a drivehaft for worn U-joints while still on the car. I know because I've tried. U-joints that feel good on a car can only be determined as bad off of the car. If you find bad u-joint(s) and you replace these, then I'd have the driveshaft balanced at a driveline shop and reinstall it on the car. Then see where you're at with it. Most of the symptoms you've described could be caused by bad U-joints. You might as well replace the carrier bearing while it's out if you suspect it bad too. to sum it all up, I'd start with the driveline. Good Luck!
