For installation, you will be fine with sockets, wrenches, and a screwdriver to help slip on the stretchy hangers for the front muffler. I'm assuming you have two jack stands to safely support the car up off the ground.
A friend to help with positioning and suspending the components is really nice. This is a miserable job by yourself. I have done 4 exhaust systems in the past year: 2 240's, 1 940, and one BMW E24. I had help for only 1 of them, so it can be done. If a friend is impossible, creative use of jacks (even the spare-tire scissor jack!) can make things somewhat easier.
Removing the old system is actually the most unpleasant part of the job. A Sawz-All (reciprocating saw) and 2 or 3 good metal-cutting blades will significantly reduce your misery. Just pay attention to what else is nearby (brake lines, gas lines, gas tank) when you start cutting!
