If you can get a ring it may be a relatively easy fix, there is a metal rod that connects the white plastic piece to the ring. There is a screw that holds the rod to the white plastic piece but I am not sure if you can get to it while the shifter is installed? The easiest route may be to find the entire shifter at the bone yard.
